FAQs about Counseling
I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?
Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the ability to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. You already have some strengths that you’ve used before, and for whatever reason, they aren’t working right now. Perhaps this problem feels overwhelming and is making it difficult to access your past strengths. In our work together, we’ll help you identify what those strengths are and how to implement them again in what is happening now.
What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?
The difference is between someone who can do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, therapy is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.” Lastly, if your situation provokes a great deal of negative emotion, if you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member, there is the risk that once you are feeling better you could start avoiding that person so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life.
Why shouldn’t I just take medication?
Medication alone cannot solve all issues. What medication does is treat the symptoms. Our work together is designed to explore the root of the issue, dig deep into your behavior, and teach strategies that can help you accomplish your personal and/or relational goals.
Medication can be effective and is sometimes needed in conjunction with therapy.
How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?
All you have to do is be yourself. Therapy is the place you get to let your masks down and let your authentic self be seen in all its glory – flaws and all. If you desire deep healing and change, you just need to be honest with your story, because your story deserves to be heard. Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, therapy will be different depending on the individual. We tailor our therapeutic approach to your specific needs.
How long will it take?
Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them, and the length of time therapy can take depends on your desire and readiness for personal development, and your commitment to doing the work to accomplish your goals. We consider ourselves to be brief therapists, so we want to give you what you need and get you on your way. Most of our clients are able to see progress within a few short months.
What can I do to help?
We are so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation, honesty, and dedication is crucial to your success. After all, we only see each other for a session a week. It’s the work you do outside of our sessions that will really help you see your personal growth and development.
My partner and I are having problems. Should we be in individual counseling or come together?
Our recommendation is for both partners to attend the first session together so the couple dynamics can be assessed and both partners can share their side. From that point, each partner would be recommended to attend individual appointments to further expound on their personal issues, then we can alternate with individual counseling and couples counseling moving forward.

Questions about Rates
At 3 In One Health, we offer a comprehensive and personalized approach to health and wellness by providing services that focus on healing the mind, body, and spirit for individuals, couples, and families. Many of our clients have said they would refer us to a friend or family member. We focus on offering the highest quality treatment outcomes. Often clients come for fewer sessions because of our high quality of clinical, health, and wellness expertise.
Do you offer discounted rates?
We have a limited number of spots to see clients pro-bono (i.e. no charge) and at discounted rates upon request.
Do you accept Insurance?
We do not accept insurance. Reason being is that a number of our clients want their mental health needs to be kept completely secure and do not want it to be part of their medical and insurance records, especially since insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis. Furthermore, insurance companies decide treatment and determine the number of sessions and the frequency. We believe this should be you and your therapist’s choice, and we want you to get the best quality of counseling treatment. While we do not participate as an in-network provider, we are able to provide the necessary Statement for Reimbursement that Insurance companies will need as you file for out-of-network benefits.

We have partnered with Mentaya to help clients use their out-of-network benefits to save money on therapy. Use this tool below to see if you qualify for reimbursement for our services.
